Through advocacy, community outreach, and grassroots support, we work to create a safer and more inclusive society where all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can thrive.
Position Overview
We are seeking a creative and committed Volunteer Social Media Manager to help amplify our message, grow our digital presence, and engage audiences with meaningful, impactful content. This is a unique opportunity to support LGBTQ+ rights in Tanzania by helping us tell our story, raise awareness, and mobilize support both locally and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a consistent social media strategy across platforms (Facebook, bluesky, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Create and schedule engaging, mission-aligned content (graphics, captions, reels, stories, infographics)
- Monitor and respond to messages, comments, and mentions in a respectful and timely manner
- Track engagement metrics and suggest improvements to grow audience reach
- Collaborate with staff to amplify events, campaigns, and advocacy messages
- Ensure online safety and maintain confidentiality when engaging on sensitive topics
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and trends
- Excellent written communication skills in English
- Graphic design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Spark, or similar tools)
- Commitment to LGBTQ+ rights, inclusion, and equality
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Experience in social media management or digital activism (preferred but not required)
